Market is calling

This Saturday is the last Downtown Farmers Market for the year at the traditional Court Avenue location. The Farmers Market is a great place to get your local produce or catch an early morning warm-meal from several local vendors. Each Market has live entertainment features and numerous local vendors who bring their products, food and otherwise, to showcase each week. Of course with the Fall season upon us the Market is a little different than it is in mid-June, but that doesn’t mean it is any less appealing.  I am not sure the average number of quests at the Market, mainly because I am not sure there is a way to tally the hundreds of people there each Saturday.  I would have to assume the crowds will be there this last time in celebration of the end of the season.  This Saturday’s Market features representatives from the Brenton Skating Plaza, they will be bringing by information about their skating packages and features for the up-coming season.  The Skating Plaza is a place I have yet to try out, but one that has been on my list since they opened a few years ago.  As much as I tend to dislike the cold weather, ice skating is one thing I thing I need to try out this winter.

The Market will relocate for the winter from November through December and the Downtown Community Alliance is looking for meat and produce vendors for those weekly events. I am not sure where the Winter Market will be located, but I would wager to bet it will be in-doors, and I think it was in the Capital Square building last year.

So, take the opportunity to get out this Saturday morning and support your local food vendors at the years last Farmers Market on Court Avenue.

    Pete,
I love the farmers market! Unfortunately, I didn't make it this year. However, my wife made it last weekend and picked me up some of Uncle Wendell's rasberry bread and Mast Farm's peach pie.

It's unfortunate we have class this weekend. I'm really missing out on two things I do every year.....Run the Race for the Cure, and head to the Farmer's Market afterwords!

Oh yes, looking forward to school on Saturday. At least the Hawks are not playing, so we won't miss that...just everything else.
