Sleep out in November?
An amazing thing is happening this weekend, people are going to sleep over night in Drake Stadium.
Really! I am not kidding. They are actually going to sleep out side,
over night, in Drake Stadium knowing full well it is November in Iowa.
I know, sounds crazy. Right?Well, tell that to the Reggie's Sleepout organizers who are putting together their third annual event to raise awareness and donations for homeless youths. The group raised $138,000 last year and are looking to expand on those figures this Friday night as they donate their time and effort for a great cause. According to the statistics listed on the event website, nearly half of the 21,000 homeless in Central Iowa are children. That is a truly amazing statistic and a figure I bet many people don't know.
Reggie's Sleepout is organized in loving memory of Reggie Kelsey, a youth who aged out of the foster care system and died nearly three years later from exposure near the Des Moines River.
I realize this post is not very conducive to fundraising since it is so close to the event, but I wanted to get the word out just the same. Plus, I am sure you can still donate funds on the website if you wish. Help support a great cause and donate some of your resources tomorrow. After all, aren't Friday's pay day?
The picture was taken at last years event.

It has been pouring rain all morning. I sure hope it drys up before tonight's sleep out!

Scott - I hear you, cold is bad enough the rain is not going to be fun for them. I am sure they are making the necessary arrangements to stay as dry as possible.
