Initial turmoil
The big hit Triple Espresso is in Des Moines for another go-round. The hit was here a few years ago and really received rave reviews. The show will be featured at the Temple for Performing Arts on 10th and Locust Streets, right next to Centro Restaurant, where it was featured some time back. Triple Espresso was the initial act featured at the Temple, when it initially opened, and the two were a great fit for each other as the hit show was a great feature for the new location. The Triple Espresso main actors, “Maxwell, Butternut & Bean,” are back for their 25th Anniversary tour starting this coming Wednesday, playing every week until early January. The write-up for Triple Espresso says it is the 25th Anniversary of the initial showing of the comedy, and I understand the show caused some turmoil that initial night which got the actors banned from show business. I guess the comedy is a little spicy and went above and beyond what was expected those years ago. All I know is now the show is a big hit and I think I am going to have to go and see what all the fuss is about. Any show that makes that much of a splash is worth seeing, right?
I was previously unaware the Temple for Performing Arts is now branded as part of the Civic Center. It makes complete sense to have both locations under the same management and I bet they are able to ensure better acts by booking for the Civic Center, The Stoner Theater, and The Temple for Performing Arts. All three locations are great options for a night out on the town this holiday season. Granted, the theaters do not fit to everyone's idea of a great night out, but for those that appreciate live arts, they are a great hit.
